Hey man whats up! I own some chevy's. can you explain the *** part's being put on chevy's, ford's, dodge they come from over sea's and built here. and the parts coming from over sea's and being built here NISSAN, TOY's, or what ever????? my thought is and HATE!! to say it. Is that their better and priced about the same. And why chevy, ford gives about 30,000 mile warranty any thang after that you have to purchase And NISSAN gives 36,000 bumper to bumper and 60,000 power train warranty at no charge and if you want more you can buy it to. kinda makes you wonder why chevy, ford or whoe ever is scared or don't beleave in their own product!! and for every body talking the *** crap, and i would ride a bike to work before i would drive a *** built truck. and we all sit around them *** on this web site, TV's , VCR's, radio's and so on chances is that the fellow will be riding a forign bike and petaling it with forign made shoes. every body can look around their house find a whole lot of *** crap they own. it hurts don't it...but alote of us think's before we just write something becouse it sound's good..

It's all foreign these days. That's why I'm stickin with my old '77 K5. I'm not entirely sure that original parts of it ain't foreign either. You can defend your Nissan all ya want - I'm not bustin on ya, - to each his own, but let's see how many Titans are around 30 years from now and compare notes then.
I just know those non-oem replacement body panels for American trucks aren't worth a crap. I should have known better, but I had a stupid moment of weakness. I still don't know what would make an OEM door ( door without any hardware) worth $300.00 while a Mexican made knock-off door is $100.00. Once I can afford it I'll be replacing these crappy doors. In hindsight it would have been cheaper to re-skin the original factory doors. The knock off new doors won't align right and the metal is rippled in variuos places. The workmanship is crap, and can be seen as such from accross the room. They don't even sound right when you close the door.
One dead giveaway is that there is no brand-name on the door, the box, the instructions - anywhere, and they are probably made in five different countries so it can't be traced with any success.
Progress - so called!
Hang on to your rusty old Fords!! I'm hangin onto my rusty old Chevy!!

How are you doing, long lost brother?
I did some body work on a friends truck back in the early 90's. He wanted me to put on a door from a junkyard which was no problem and replace a fender that was damaged beyond repair.
He bought one of those cheap over-seas crap fenders. I was able to get it on, but two of the bolt holes in the fender did not line up with the holes from the inner fender. After screwing with it for about an hour, I was able to make the fender look like it belonged on the truck minus the two bolts.
It wasn't too bad of a job for a few hundred bucks.

Brother, home from the battle!!
I know how that is with aftermarket parts from the Land-O-Rice !
The seller usually gives you some printed disclaimer that says something like: "these quality parts are shipped to us from wayyyy overseas, so they may have some minor dings in them due to handling on the looooong trip from far off lands" Apparently they haven't invented bubble-wrap or packing peanuts over in those ferner lands!!
Truth is that these crappy-ass parts probably came off the slave labor production line in this condition, or they got kicked to *** by some paint & body shop guys over here after they received them and saw what crap quality they were. So they kick 'em and stick em back in the shipping box from the American reseller, and sent the crap back to them. Then some other sorry sap orders one of the same, and gets shipped this same crappy kicked part with the disclaimer taped to it!
Most of these sorry parts have no brand-name, batch number, plant number, country of origin, Not even that little underwear inspector's tag: "quality assured by underwear inspector #12". Welcome to NAFDA boys!!

True about what you said 30 years will tell. theirs a white K-5 in town far sell looks realy good i think some body redone it recent almost looks new. and we do need to take steps in saveing all old cars & trucks. i do all the work on my 69 nova & 73 camaro and i buy old cars & trucks and fix them up to resale to make money to work on my two. the nova is thrue it spent 1yr. & 3 months in the body shop and its one fine 69 the camaro is finshed in side and the body and paint an't bad yet but i have been looking for replacement parts and they don't make whole doors for it, going to have to replace the skins when its ready. and i try to stay with the look and era that they came from. have you ckecked GM to see if they have any NOS new old stock for your K-5 ?

Those sound like some sweeet rides! I had a '72 Nova with a 305 in it years ago. I could smoke the tires on it any time in it's original factory condition. A really bare-bones car with lots of power - the essence of the power-to-weight ratio. I wish I would have kept it, but the money just wasn't there at the time. I also had a '76 Cutlass years later that I did fix up some. not a whole lot of money then either, but enough to make it pretty mean. It was a sleeper, and would scare the crap out of most folks! I'd be sitting at a traffic light and light 'em up when it turned green. I'd smoke 'em until the tail end started going sideways about a foot or two or three and then let it grab on, and we were off! It had a 350ci with a Th-350 and Rochester quadrajet carb. I ran 93 octane gas with an octane booster on top of that. I put some big fat old tires almost slicks on the back an some narrow ones up front. It fish-tailed somethin awful at times but it never got to where I lost it.
I've thought about doing the NOS kit on my K5 but I want to get a new engine for it before I do that ( another old 350 4-bolt block that I can have stroked to a 383 ) and do most of the work myself - the right way. I don't want to blow my old beater 350 and have all my fun go south on me before I'm ready for the new block.
I'm also working on 4.56 gears and possibly a 6-lug 14-bolt rear axle that I saw on ORU's web site.

Mostley where people goes wrong with NOS is setting up the motor to lean and you should never light it off below 3000 rpm i have mine setup with a micro switch on the carb so it won't activate unless it's full throttle i have a button on the shifter so i can over ride it if i want but it all has to be switched on and purged before any thing can happen. if you have a strong motor now it would not hurt a thang just make sure to follow the instructions run 2 jet sizes more on the gas side than the jet on the NOS side you will have to re plumb gas lines and have a good regulator and fuel pump that will keep pressure above 6 LB'S you will have to run a separate gas line to the carb and the NOS i'd suggest uping the jets in the carb at least 3 sizes and make a few test runs and check the plugs if you stay on the rich side and your truck aint running lean thrue the RPM range you will be fine and have a smile from ear to ear a good veary good fuel pressure gauge in sight out side the car never inside and put a kill switch so if the fuel pressure drops it'll kill the motor. this is what usually blows them to h-ll the motor leaned out but this is usually what blows a motor anyway is that it leaned out and built up to much heat or just plain came apart. there is alot of info. on WWW. NOS .com it will tell the does and don'ts PS if your timing is say 36-38 degrees back it down with NOS at least 2-4 degrees or it will distort and blow. and this will test if you can build a motor or not always use ARP fasteners.

Sorry that I have not answered your messages lately. Been pretty busy at work and have been keeping myself busy doing other outdoor activities.
The Ferd Ranger has been pretty good to me lately. It doesn't ping no where near as bad as it did before. I am now running 89 octane juice in it instead of the 93 wallet draining fuel.
I just fixed the dome light / door ajar problem. I found info. on the computer about how to fix the problem. There's a pin switch inside of the door that sometimes sticks. All I did was disconnect the tabbed wire connector and rotated the pin switch 1/4 of a turn to remove it and sprayed some electrical contact cleaner on the pin and worked it up and down to lube it up.
It's very nice to have a lighted cab at night so I can see what the *** i'm doing.
I also had a leaky back window thanks to the third brake light. I took it off and put some RTV silicone around the edge of the light. All it needs to do now is rain so I can see if it is sealed.
Now, I'm just waiting for something else to break, fail, leak, or fall off so that I can fix that to. And you and I know for sure that it will most likely happen very soon, because at FERD QUALITY IS JOB "1"

I know that I have said some bad stuff about Fords as I have had many problems with my Ranger pickup.
I've owned nothing but Chevy's in the past and all of them were good to me.
So I figured I would take a chance and buy a Ford Ranger 4X4 as I have always liked the look of them and they wheeled pretty good.
I do however still like the original Bronco's and the Ford pickups in the 60's and 70's and always wanted one, but I still would prefer an old 60's to 70's Chevy pickup or Blazer.
I may bad talk Ford sometimes because of all the problems that I have had with my truck, but I still like the old Fords.
Sorry if I've pissed you off a couple of times.
With any vehicle we will always experience some kind of problem or problems. I guess sometimes its all about luck and if you take care of the vehicle. What works good for one person doesn't always work for another.

No affence but rangers are not the best choice for depending on. Rangers do have problems. But that is the same thing with me, all we have had was General Motors cars and every one had problems, I have had problems with dodge and ford too. We just got a 2002 Grand Am with only 32,000 miles on it, and the timeing chain broke and bent 6 valves on it, we had to tare down the engine to fix it, the timing chain on it looked like a bikcycle chain. The car had low miles and it still broke, we were on the way to a car cruise and didnt even make it to the corner, we ended up taking my ford. It is surprising but I have had less problems with my ford than any other vehicle I have had.
I like the older chevys I love the way they look, and they will get the job done no doubt, I just prefer Fords thats all. And I hope I didnt piss you off either, I just get in to it you know.

No, I didn't get pissed off. I think it's kinda funny sometimes to talk crap about other trucks that I don't care for too much. If someone thinks Chevy is junk, so be it.
As for the Ranger, it has never left me stranded. That's definately a good thing.
These are the problems that I have or have had with it.
Engine pinging
Door ajar light and dome light staying on
Speedometer doesn't always work
Air bag light on
Clutch makes noise when the clutch pedal is pushed in and released
Air conditioner has a bad leak somewhere
The serpentine belt makes noise even after I replaced it with a new one.
The third brake light leaks into the cabs headliner ( easy fix )
This is why I talk bad about Ford!!
One good thing about it is the original battery lasted 8 1/2 years. It finally took a crap at the end of June.
I love old GM cars and trucks, but Pontiac is known for multiple problems. This is one GM car that I would never be proud to own unless it was an old GTO, Lemans, or Tempest. I had a neighber that had a late 60's GTO with a 455 big block and a 4-speed tranny. He took me for a ride in it one day and every time he shifted it into another gear it almost gave me whiplash. That was a quick and fast car.

I know the feelin dude, I've been workin like a one-armed something too lately!
Ya, it won't take long for something else to 'go south' on yer ferd most likely. I got used to mine breaking down on the way to work, and the wife got used to the phone calls. You know it's bad when you're on a first name basis with the tow truck shop, and you carry his card "AT ALL TIMES" when I was driving that lemon! I'm glad it's gone! It's souring someone else's life, to no end now - I'm sure of it! " Old ferds never die, (permanently, anyway) ...they just smell like they did !"
Hang in there dude! Don't let the ferd get to ya!
