4x4Ranger:

If Ford is so great, why are they getting ready to close down two plants and offer buyouts to 75,000 employee's just to get them to retire early? This is because FORD SUCKS. They need to change their logo to ( At Ford Quality Is Not Going To Happen At Any Given Time). This is what they get for building junk vehicles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reason why I typed this in red, is because this is Fords future unless they start building better quality vehicles!!!!!!!!!!!!

( Ford, The First Vehicle, And The Worst Vehicle )

Come on Ford, get with the program!!!!!

In todays economy, everyones feeling the pinch, not just Ford!!!!!
The vehicle, NOT JUST FORD, is only as good as the person that had it first, or how it was maintained throughout it's life!!

Why people argue about it is beyond me!!

I just look at the body style, in todays trucks, in my opinion, Ford is first, Dodge is 2nd, followed by Chevy, as far as mechanicals, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!!!!!!!!!

I was driving up the mountains the other day and passed a duramax in my 77 F-150 4x4 with 472 natural aspirated. The duramax guy tried to pass but no luck. The gentleman couldn't believe his new truck couldn't keep up. When I pulled off at my turn off on the mountain he caught up with me and asked what I had. OEM headed cncported 460 ford with modern parts and headers and c-6. Modern technology applied to old iron is a beautiful thing. I can build 3 of these engines for the price of one diesel. I have owned 6 diesel over the past 8yrs and have not found one to be reliable. Usually have some serious malfunction within the first 75,000 miles. Never ran a duramax but I hear things good and bad. Ford diesel and cummins had some bad luck with electronic injectors. One dead cummins engine/broke crank and 3powerstroke engines and 2 trannies and many injectors, more than I can count around 70 or more injectors between all these engines, maybe a hundred?? The cummins lost the injector at 15,000miles. I consider myself the diesel slayer. I don't do anything different than I do to my 460 and things just seem to go wrong with diesel engines. Like the trucks drivetrain but engines have been a nightmare. I know I'm not the only one having problems so I keep building the old iron. On the ford 6.0 diesel Our average cost in repairs under 130,000 miles is 35,000 on top of the cost of the truck or more. This is engine and tranny and basic maintenance. Cummins does a lot better on cost. But electronic injection is a major problem with diesels. One of our fords we have $85,000 into it and it hasn't reached 130,000miles. Scary stuff. Dodge has a electronic problem with their electronics and truck just shuts off and this ghost problem isn't solved yet. These are problem that I've ran accross and I know their are probably more. My new cummins just came out of the shop with electonic issues and it seems to be solved at 10,500miles. O'yeah I'm a ford guy but mess with them all and I consider them a air pump and some just do it more efficiently than others. Knowledge is power when building trucks/engines and more the info you can get from knowledgeable people the better off you are. I'm kinda lost on some of this newer stuff but very familiar on the older stuff. Well all be driving hybrids someday soon with the way things are going???

Update on duramax diesel malfunction. gentleman with a duramax lost a head gskt and torched his head. Your only allowed to machine a head about .010 and then get a new head. Ouch a new head is around 3000.00 bucks not including assembly. He cried and my machine shop guy says its not uncommon with these duramax's on some of the older ones. Head gsket is moving around in stock form and killing these trucks.

i have had 2 rangers and 1 bronco2 and ill say this much my bronco 2 was good but my rangers are way better all considering one was a 2 wheel drive and i was pulling out more people than 4 wheelers were and this was on pure ice and i dont agree with you that fords are junk because my dad owned chevys fords and dodge and he preferred the fords out of all of them considering his last two chevys had bad problems but yes every truck has a good quality off and on the road i found chevys are more of a luxury based family vehicle where as fords were the work horse as well as a comfortble family truck and going on to the rams well all around just pulling power from that cummins but at the same time you shouldnt knock a ford because of one thing i have had to put two trani's in my ranger and bronco but they are so easy to fix that i do all my work at home unlike chevs that are alays in the shop because they are complex but my dad did have a chevy two and he did say it was one of the funnest cars he ever drove
