I have a old 79 J20 truck that I have owned for over 22 years now. I plowed snow with it for many years. Never had any problem with it and I replaced one brake hose when it was about 15 years old. I have a 2000 K3500 that has had its third hard brake line rust out and burst. All the lines in the front have been replaced except for one and the rear will soon be replaced between master cylinder and flex hose for rear axle (it is in three pieces  and it looks like I am going to have drop fuel tank to replace tank too) Truck is not rusted otherwise  I have had to replace one oil cooler line and have another to replace other this spring. I also need to replace tranny cooler lines as they do not look good. It appears to have very low quality brake lines on it. My 89 burb that I bought new still has all factory lines. Newer is not better and it should be a crime to build a truck with brake lines that rust out so easy. As important as brakes are, they should have been stainless steel long ago. Planned obsolescence.

yeah sno and with the price (depending on what engine )
$45-85 per oil cooling hose and another 30$ in fittings and seals/orings you have to replace everytime you change the hoses...when i replace the radiator because its PLASTIC!!! i got one w/out oilcooler provitions and eliminated the oil cooler alltogether, no more leaks and no more 150$ bill for parts every other year, and my v6 doesnt run any better or worse, hey my 74 c10 w/350 didnt have any oil cooler on it so why waste money!
and yes my 86 sub was built like a brick schithouse even looked like one but it never had the problems of todays pups!

I love dodge,had 2 of them a 02 and an 04.ive also had 2 gm 4 bys,a nissan 2 fords,an isuzu,2 gm cars 1 ford car. I would trade them all for a 80's blazer like i had,but w/o all the issues,junk 700r4,junk 208,junk 10 bolt front,thats why i put a 44 front,t350,203 t case and 12 bolt from a 73 blazer. didnt even look good,or run good,but i think it would have been awsum,someday..

With these plastic tank radiators, loose the 15 or 16 PSI cap and replace it with a 9 PSI cap from Stant. I have been running one on my metal tanked burb since it was about 1 year old and it has all original hoses and they look great.  On my K3500 a dumped it for a 13 PSI cap when new and after intake manifold gaskets leaked a second time under warranty, I went to 9 PSI one. The only reason for 16 PSI cap is to raise boil point so a higher average opertain temp can be maintained. If you increase antifreeze mixture to 60/40 or higher, you will raise boil point without needing the 16 PSI cap to get there. BTW, oil cooler is a good idea and the theory behind the tank based one is that it does not over cool oil and helps stabilze temp too.

Dodge sucks. I knew that since I was a little kid. When I was 3 we were at a car show and right in front of the mopar section I shouted "DODGE SUCKS!" The only good dodges were the old power wagons, Jeeps, and cars like the 69 Charger.

And ford...well...they only have 2 good things...the 9 Inch rearend which is good for the 1/4 mile, and some of their carburators can withstand some pretty crazy angles when rock crawlin.

I'm a Chevy guy. I've got an 86 1/2 ton long box and my dad has a 78 3/4 ton long box, an 82 crew cab and a 90 1/2 ton long box 4x4. All will start in -40 weather, and when you hit the gas they go! GO CHEVY!

Chevy's are not what they once used to be. GM has forgotten what a P/U is really supposed to be.

I do agree. The only Chevy to give us any problems is my dad's 90. All our older ones are fine. It seems the newer they are the worse they're getting

I have had far, far less trouble with my 89 4x4 burb with 180K miles plus on it than I have had with my 2000 K3500 with 43K miles. In the last year or so I have put over 1000 bucks in my K3500 just in parts and counting. Parts such as brake rotors that rotted away, hub assembly, starter, alternator, engine oil cooler lines, tranny cooler lines, several brake lines, ABS sensors and a few sensors to name a few.I have not spent 300 bucks on burb  since I bought it new for parts replacement. Biggest repair on it was a water pump several years ago. Still has factory starter, alternator, TBI unit and fuel pump.

When I got my 86 it didnt run. Found a few open vaccum seals, played with timing, put some gas in it and some tranny fluid and it runs perfect. Total cost $15. My dads 90 has had tranny problems out the ass. He's probably put 2 grand in it and it still can only go 5 minutes before over heating and the tranny starts slipping, the breaks are going. My truck sat in a field for 7 years before I got it...breaks and everything still work fine.

the only reasons shevveess are so fast,is because there still trying to catch up to the dodge in front of them!...maybe...

No it is because they do not have to stop at gas stations as much as Dodges and therefore can maintain a higher average speed.
