We always appreciate feedback and information so we listen to what you, the readers want in a magazine, whether you're a subscriber or first time buyer. We've had many a survey in the past that have shown us lots of information, and the letters and e-mails you send also go into the decision making process of what's right for the magazine. So what the heck does all this mean to you? In a word, more testing and listening to your feedback on covers, content, and cost. We really want to know what you think on every aspect of the magazine. So, use this section of our Forums to tell us what you like, don't like, and what you want to see in 4-Wheel & Off-Road. Tell us about the covers, the photos, the articles, even the advertisements. Nothing is off limits. If it's part of the magazine, we want to know what you think about it. Thanks for your feedback. Rick Péwé Editor 4-Wheel & Off-Road

Last issue I got was so much rockcrawling that I threw it in the recycle bin. I never though that would happen, but it did.
Most of your readership has been asking for some varied coverage, which I can see as being hard, with rock-crawling being the hot "pro off-road" scene right now.
The more junk trucks and home-brew ideas I see, the more it makes me want to modify my truck. Ingenuity is becoming a lost art in the off-road world, since you can buy pretty well whatever you want pre-fabbed now. I realize the pre-fabbers are the advertisers that keep the mag going, but the way the mag reads now is way different that it was 10 years ago. Change is neccessary to stay current, but trendy is just that.....trendy.
My 2 bits.

thanks, yes we know that the issue was very heavy on rock buggies, and though some folks told me it was their favorite in a while we will most likely try to keep it more ballanced in the future.
in our april issue we did a story titled DIRT, it was a huge step away from what we usually do, did you like it, was it crap, or didn't you care?

Please review the April 2006 4wheel and Off Road article on winching tips. Those of us who have taken physics classes know that the statement (p.51 #4) about the double line pull is partially incorrect. But other readers may exceed the strength of hooks/tree straps/tow hook by multiplying force times two using a pulley in the manner you illustrate.

To call it an "article" would be using a hint of journalistic liberalism. Frankly, it was excellent. Every month should just have collage like that of people wheelin' for the sake of wheelin'. I am a sucker for the tech articles, but those 4 pages made me smile for a minute..."dirt nappy".
I was a little harsh on last month's mag, but I just don't get rockcrawling yet. I have too much country to see to spend hours with a broken truck on a pile of golf cart sized rocks. The tech involved with it is really interesting, but the competition has yet to interest me.
On a side note, how do you get any help from subscriber services??? I have been waiting two weeks for a response! I sent my renewal forms over a month ago, and my account is still expired, and have recieved nothing but another renewal notice! Sorry...tangent.......I get frustrated easily when i am trying to give a busisness my money and they can't even get organized enough to take it!...still a tangent, wrong venue.....my bad.

I see a lot of rock crawlers in the mag. There are no rocks worth crawling where I live. I understand there is a large part of the country where crawling is all the rage now, that's fine.
I love the home brew out there. The "The Best of Whoops" and "Readers Rides" issues are the reason I subscribed.
I was, however, dissapointed with the 4 page Wrangler preview this month. While nice and informative, I feel the article belongs in Car and Driver or Motortrend.
I do like the tech articles- Axiles, suspensions, Hybrides... Show me something cool and how I can build it, how it works.
Show me the original stuff, the home made stuff. no matter what flavor of off road it is for.

I think a beginner 101 article would be in order. After reading some of the general and Tech questions in this forum alot of these guys/gals need alittle help with where to start. Items like kind of mechanical classes to take and how design a truck for the purpose they intend to use it for.

Where was the artical titled "DIRT"? I checked my April 05 issue three times and could not find it. I even checked the January 06, 2005 index and there is nothing titled, "DIRT"

I love the features on backwoods mud bogs and trail rides. I still think about the desert racing suburban you guys built (that was years ago)! It's also cool when Pewe goes on some crazy adventure to buy junk. I don't like junk or jeeps but the adventures are cool. I love anything Toyota. Readers Rides and Whoops are my favorites. Pretty much everything you guys do I like. Not so much rockcrawling but some is neat. Keep up the good work!

I live in central Kansas and we have mud. We live for mud here. Any coverage you have in your magazine that features vehicles whose color is unidentifiable because of the mud is awsome. We dont have too many boulders around here but I enjoy reading about them but not so much on strictly rock crawling competitions (buggies suck). The whoops and readers rigs are by far your best issues of the year. Your low tech buildups inspire your readers more than anything. I bet that a vast majority of your readers don't have the funds available to purchase anything at SEMA (but the coverage is interesting). Most of them have enough extra cash to go to the local farm store and buy a sawzall. Cheap Truch Challange is one of the best ideas ever. That's where the fun is at. In the future you might consider entire issues soley devoted to brands(JEEP, chevy, dodge, yota and maybe fords). Maybe you already have in the past but I have been reading for a couple years and haven't seen any. Keep up the good work. Your rag is the best
