Sounds like a reasonable explanation as to why you haven't had the opporunity to see "DIRT" yet.

everything you publish is great, but i wish you would cover events in kentucky( if any). I keep reading about all kinds of stuff that happens out west but nothing in the south.

I love this mag. I have been a suscriber since 98 when I started four wheeling. The magazine has helped me mod my trucks, and not get taken in the process w/ after market crap that doesn't work. Also it has tought me how to four wheel. I have been stuck a few times, but the tips in the mag have helped me from getting stuck alot more. A few things I would like to see more of in the mag or more so a section on the web site is a tire guide. There are so many different sizes out there it gets confussing which is which ( metric, inches, 9X16?). I would also like to see a section on the net for the charts we get. Tire fitment guide was great, and a very usefull tool. Unfortunatly ahh my dog ate mine, and I can't find another. The mag is great, and I have no plans on ending my subscription. The web site need a section of info compiled from the mag of guides, and how to's.

First of all, I love the mag and can't wait for it to get to my door every month. The trail ride coverage and tech articles are great! Even the articles on the new trucks coming out from the manufacturers.
What I would really love to see is an in depth article on how to build a good all around off road vehicle. Something that is good at everything; rocks, mud, sand, and trails. Something the average family guy that likes to wheel would drive. Like a short box crewcab pickup or maybe a fullsize blazer or bronco. Throw on some lockers(maybe some ox lockers instead of detroits)mild engine and exhaust upgrades and some 33"-35" tires. Then maybe some accessories to haul all the family and gear... a rack for the top,a rack for the highlift jack, a tool box that would fit inside the rear of the Bronco for example. How about a portable winch setup so it can be switched front to back(proper mounting, cable and dual battery setup). Good bumpers and maybe some rock sliders for armor.
Just a thought, and keep up the good work!

I truly enjoy reading your magazine, for it contains great how to articles, info on new parts, and also feature vehicles which gives me a chance to see how and what other people are building. I did notice a large amount of feedback on rockcrawling, and here's what I think: Rockcrawling is great, it takes a good deal of skill to crawl, but I'm not a big fan of buggies and tube trucks. I do love to see people crawl everyday vehicles like fullsize rigs, pickups,Samurais, not any particular brand or year but more rigs one might see on the road, or on the trail.I wheel an 1988 Chevy Suburban with a great deal of upgrades on work done on it, and it serves as my daily driver and trail machine. I am happy to say it is very capable of keeping up with my friends who own dedicated trail rigs. I think what people are trying to say is that they possibly want terrain diversity in your magazine which will reflect the type of rigs that will be featured.
Keep up the good work.

: We love all 4x4 rigs, but some are more popular than other, so we see them on the trail more. Nissan are fine rig, but Toyotas have outsold them by far, hence the amount you see. If you have a built Nissan or a group of them, let us know and maybe we can cover the event, and bring Clampy as well.
Rick, Here is your invite to the East Coast Xterra Challenge 2006. http://WWW.ECXC.COM. Or you could join us for http://www.GONEMOAB.com I would recommend ECXC we had close to 100 trucks last year and a great time. If you make it to ECXC I will pay your park fees and get you guys a keg. I'm not above bribery. Check out some of our web sites, http//:www.XterraFirma.com Http://www.xterraownersclub.com http://www.destinationXterra.com and for built up truck check out mine: http://www.ok4wd.com/rprofile.asp?id=531 http://www.maxc.org/members/member.asp?id=73 -Dave AKA AlliedAcid NJ Edited 2/24/2006 4:13 am by alliedacid

Hey - I want to let you know about the wheeling of Nissans! Xterra's are coming into their own as a rock solid platform, the aftermarket support is swelling, and I wheel with a bunch of built X's. The X's I'm talking about have 33's, winches, front/rear rock bumpers, SL's, BL's, full skids, sliders, lockers, low gear conversions, OBA, etc... X's have full frames, boxed, a rear live axle, and some have done SAS on the front IFS, etc. (SAS kits are available to make it easy...) In short...Xterra's are becoming trail rigs of choice. The last all Xterra off road event at Paragon and Rousch Creek had almost 100 X's, and hundreds of people. The off road clubs I belong to are swelling with Xterra's as the members see what the X's can do, and survive, and want one too. The links Alliedacid (Above in thread) are a good starting point if you want to see what's happening, get in on the action. I like rock crawling more than mud, even if I do more mud because its easier to find.

I'm a ford fan myself.I totally agree with that.Every artical is usually about a GM product. They are alot cheaper to build, but i've never owned one that i wasn't fixing day after day,My fords have yet to let me down.

In a sea of the norm, I hope to find in my future issues of 4WHEEL & OFF-ROAD something like if I were to throw a rock down Main Street U.S.A. it would not "bounce off" four or five cookie cutter 4x4's. I really enjoy the unique and different. Pleasing the masses should include a regular dose of change, not what they look at and/or work on day in and day out.
I am the owner/builder of a "SUPER SIZE"(formerly full size), 15 passenger van that from day one was built to be very rugged, useable but most importantly unique.
Your magazine covers all of the popular and up and coming trendy 4x4's very well, but lets face it, most of us spend so much time and money on our vehicles, (aside from capability and durability), striving to be unique and different. Thank you for such an enjoyable and informative magazine. Much of what has been done to my van in the last four month build-up has been aided by arcticles/advertisements from your magazine. I will send in a official entry for the 2006 U.A. so until then, please keep up the good work and have fun doing so.

These guys got it. The mag is really good, that is why we read it. After all, this is the most unique vehicle publication in my local news stands. I think what all of us are trying to say is "we want diversity!". Shake things up. there is a lot of really cool stuff in the wide world of off road. And, how did a “soccer mom special” win 4x4 of the year?
