What's the most worthless 4x4 ever and why?  

i think a stock z71 is a poor excuse for a 4 wd

heres y. i mean u see them on comercials doing all types of tricks in the mud and putting gravel in the bed but when it comes down to it they just suck in the offroad terain. Im not saying there not good for daily drivers but for an off road truck its just bs. I know a dude that went through wat i went through in 4wd and got stuck when i was in 2wd. In stock form a chevy 71 as just as good as a 2wd in my opinion. I want to see wat the other guy that said chevy 4x4's suck has to say about this!

ya that and the c v joints are vert weak ont he newer ifs frontends  

Is there a way to change the CV joints on new Chevys to something stronger?

Are 88-up K-series trucks pretty much overpriced and glorified 2wd's? (as far as their usefulness or uselessness)

My brother in-law has a late model GMC 2500 HD 4x4 that has the IFS on the front of it.

To me, I think they should have put a solid axle underneath of it. The IFS looks like it would  break very easily if you took it for a mild trail run.

I mean, come on GM, what's so heavy duty about IFS????

Aparently GM thinks the majority of truck buyers would apreciate a smooth ride over brute strength. Granted in mine and, many of your opynions IFS is weak.

But I ask you how many K2500s have you seen with wreked front suspensions?

...Please keep in mind I am talking about trucks that have not just jumped a rivine....

yea dont get me wrong either im bowtie till i die. But jeep still comes first. U can beef any truck up to offroad standards. But in stock form the ifs just doesnt hold up like a solid axle will. ford and doge got the solid asle part right.  

I myself don't think that IFS has a smooth ride.

My Ranger has IFS and it rides like total crap, and the suspension is stock. In my mind its named "Rough Rider".

My friend has a 97 Grand Cherokee with the solid axle and it used to ride like a luxury car before we put a 3-inch suspension lift on it.

No, I've never seen a wrecked suspension on a K2500 mainly because I never see them on the trail!

OK, Ifs has a much smoother ride then mass produced leaf springs, custom leaf springs is antoher story. Chevy IFS has it limitations yes, but It is not the worst 4x4 ever. How about the Jeep with that mall crawler renegade package, or all these awd cars/suvs/minivans that people are calling 4wd. At least the chevys have a low range.  

Pardon my ignorance, but where do CV joints go and what do they connect to? Can a newer Chevy have these easily replaced for stronger parts? Would this be expensive?  

cv joints are at each side of the front axle halfshafts. There major down fall is on lifted applications when tehy can be easily strechted past there operating point and become seperated(break). Rough Country makes production units for the nbs chevy ifs which have a slip build in and and are a heavier duty cv. You can also have insanly expensive units made by the same companies that make the ones for baja trucks, (cough cough, which use ifs!)  

Do the CV joints attach just to the wheels, the differential or both?
