I need some help deciding what to put up front. I have just swapped in a front 60 and 14 bolt with a Detroit and 4.11s in my 82’ K5 6.2L. I am running 37s now but will probably go up to 40s. I don want to spend a lot of money but I need to lock it up. What are the best options, and dose it really work to unlock one hub to go round a corner?

maybe for a front axle if its freewheeling or in 2wheel

just get one for the rear you dont really need one for the front with 40inch tires unless your really wheeling... and not thinking you are

my dana 60 in my burban had a detroit in the front, and yes unlocking one hub really does work.

Ever driven a big 4wd tractor? Thats what its like. The traction you get is irreplaceable, but the steering is frustrating.

Go with a selectable locker, one that you can turn on and off like ARB, Detroit Electrac, or OX locker.  That will help with the steering and you can turn in on or off when you need to. The ARB,Electrac, etc are a little more expensive than a standard (Detroit or similar) locker, but worth it in the front. Really important in rocks or snow!
