I have a 95' Dodge 4x4 2500 w/CTDiesel and NP241HD transfer case. Can someone tell me why it grinds at random, like gears trying to engage while in 2H??? In 4H all is fine!

The shift linkage adjustment appears to be fine. I relaced the vacuam motor for the front axle inter-lock and all looks excellent as well as the rest of the truck. It has been rode a little hard but well maintained. I bought it used and the transfercase shift has never felt quite right to me??? Could the shift fork be bent/broke letting try to engage 4x4 when in 2H???
