I have a 78 CJ5 with a 258, a T150 tranny, and a dana 20 transfer case.

I was wondering if a 360 would bolt up to the tranny and if so would the tranny be strong enough for the engine, i do some mild 4 wheelin, but nothing too extreme.

When I got my CJ5 14 years ago. I installed the following in this order: wheels/tires, V-8 horse power, 4-speed T-18A, lockers, and fuel injection. If I were to start over...and wanted the most bang for my buck...LOCKER ! Each Jeep is a creation of it's owner. Customized for the needs of that person. Power is good for sand/mud. For all around, gears and lockers. Define your needs and build it. That is what a Jeep is about. Good luck on your quest...Geeper

The t-150 is pritty weak & only used from 76 to 79. It won't be happy behind the 8 for long, & rebuilding is usless. They are known for jumping out of gear, mine wont stay in 3rd when Im coasting or compression breaking. I'd look for a 4 speed.

The 360 should bolt right up & you will need one frame tower driverside I think.
