I am currently contemplating putting a 350 carb motor in my 86 s-15 blazer.
The vehcile is no longer road legal, and body mods for clearance wont be an issue. I am also not concerned with the weak IFS and rear axle, as they break, real axles will be swapped in.
It came with the weak 2.8L TBI, which is now really tired. The 700R4 trans will bolt up, and the motor mounts and oil pan can be sourced from adavance adapters.
My question is on fuel delivery. I would like to use the TBI instead of a carb as reliability and the ability handle inclines is more important to me than big power. I have a TBI unit from a 88 chev 305 along with the computer (which will plug right in according to GM). The new 350 has a 4bbl intake on it, is there an adapter plate to run the 2bbl TBI unit on a 4bbl intake manifold?
IF not, will a 2bbl TBI intake manifold bolt up to 73-87 350 heads without extensive modifications?
If not again, what sort of modifications and parts will be required to run a carb on the stock fuel pump? I would need some sort of regulator to drop fuel pressure from about 37psi to more carb freindly 8psi.
The motor is free and the idea is to do this on as limited a budget as possible. Any junkyard solutions or cheap aftermarket solutions would be greatly appreaciated!

I am not even considering attempting to run the new 350 off the 2.8 TBI unit. I have a V8 TBI unit.
As far as an adapter plate goes, they make them to run squarebore carbs on spreadbore intake manifolds and viceverca, why not TBI to a spreadbore pattern intake manifold?
Does anyone know for shure wheather an intake manifold from a TBI 350 will fit the heads on an 73-87 350?

I don't know if it will fit but in a chevy performance magazine also from prime media they have had alot of articles more than in here and in fourwheeler on motor and upgrades so I suggest going to there web site just go to www.primedia.com and in the top right will be a scroll to go down to link to other primedia web magazines and I think you may find your solution. worth a look or ask on there message board a motor is a motor in a car or truck or maybe in one of the clasic truck mags.

Ive done this one and hated doing it...but the fun I had after....
the 700 will not fit from the 2.8 to the 350 because the 2.8 is a 60 degree and the 350 is a 90, also the power of the 350 will make it into a lego explosion.
the intake of the tbi 350 will fit the early model, the mpfi will not ( if you are desiding to go that way) the fuel pump in the tank will have to be upgraded to on from a 4.3 s-10 (88 - 93, after 93 they ran vortecs)
the right shock tower will have to be relocated 2.5 inches to the right (just an added note)
I would suggest getting a transfer from a 89 -93 s 10 they handle the power betterthen the 207's and have a sronger planatary set up
I hope this helped and good luck

The V-8 TBI intake should bolt up to the heads you have (that's the beauty of Chevy V-8s since they remain virtually unchanged for more than 30 years) You'll need a chip for a 350, the 305's chip will be too lean, and you'll need the appropriate sensors (coolant temp, knock sensor, O2 sensor, etc) The extra work for the TBI will be wrth it on steep terrain.
