Hey, I just took out a 92 wrangler at some hole in the wall dealer as i'm trying to find the diamond in the rough. Thing has the weak 4 banger and the suspension on it is about shot. But that can be replaced in time. What worried me, other than the long startup time was the fact the for one when ever i got it out of 2nd gear and got up to 30 it would lose all power and start to back fire. At first i thought i missed a gear but i reshifeted and it did it again. Second some liquid was leaking into the cab near the pedels. Had no clue what it was (i know it wasnt oil or antifreeze) and was wondering what this could be. Might just be water but figured that i would check. What could be causing these probs? Would like some info so i can bring the asking price down as much as possible

the fluid might be from the clutch slave or master cyl. sounds like a lot of problems. you may want to hold off and find something better. how much is it. it must be a smokin' deal if you're still even interested. you have to understand, these guys will be your best friend until you sign the papers. then you're on your own. make sure you know what you're getting.

well thier asking price is 3600 but i wanna drag it down as much as possible. It wound up being brake fluid i took it to my mechanic who works on my stuff when i cant fix it. The taste test wouldnt have worked cause i had some oil on my hands before and i used one of those no liquid things to wash my hands like that orange stuff. Here's a complete list of things wrong, tell me what u guys think if i should even consider investing in this deal Misfiring/Bad fuel mixture American Racing Wheels rusting Rusted Headers Brake Fluid leak from clutch master cylinder Shocks worn (suspect they are still stock) crappy 4 banger engine (thats not really wrong its just weak) no knowledge of the 4wheel drive working (dealer said it did but you know them, they'll tell you *** is gold to sell a car) No speakers (creature comfort but you would expect speakers when it comes with a cd player)

sounds like an $800 jeep to me
sounds like it needs $2000 worth of work.........
Sounds like a lemon to me
Hydraulic clutches can be filled with braked fluid, GM fullsizes uses DOT3. Leaking master clutch cylinders can be a pain in the ass, as the reason the cylinder blew is sometimes overlooked. My brothers blew in his c1500, i replaced it for him.......the new one blew in a day.....new lines......blew another.........the slave cylinder was binding, putting too much of a load on the master, causing it to blow.
Think of $3600....for a jeep that needs nearly everything replaced? I'd pass on it.

i'd make a low ball offer, like $1800. you probably need a new carb, cluth cyl, shocks, and who knows what else. it is a jeep and if the body and frame are in good shape, it's worth something. will you really be happy with a 4 cly though?
