i have a 1992 s-10 ext cab 4x4 that i want to put a solid axle under. i recently found a 1991 jeep cherokee that i could purchase for next to nothing do to a blown motor. i once read an article on putting jeep axles under an s-10 but would it be easier to just transfer the body, engine, transmission, and transfer case from the s-10 frame to the cherokee frame. i know i would have to shorten the bed but i do not haul anything so that would not be an issue for me. any advice would be appriciated.

if your going to buy the cherokee i would put another motor in it. this would be the best idea because i deal with early blazers all the time. i drive a 91 and my dad build a k5-s10blazer (k5 frame)
for the amount of work your looking at it would be way easyer to swap the cherokee motor and go with the same one, the 4.0 is a really good motor.
if you really have your heart set on that s10, dont bother with the ckerokee, its a dana 30.
you need to find yourself a dana 44 from a Ford. the pumpkin is on the drivers side same as your s10s transfercase.
the only reason a dana 30 wouldnt be a good idea is because the 44 is much stonger and its allmost the same amount of work.
i think a set of 33-35s would be nice with 5 inches of total lift and fender trimming
