trying to help a friend. I have an extra 350 trans his 700r4 is shot. The 350 should bolt in. What should I do with the speed sensor wiring harness ? will the truck run right with the 350 and no sensor /if that is a sensor? Iwill need a new convert to fit the 350 .Trying to him back going cheap and quick.

The computer needs that speed sensor work correctly, otherwise it won't know how fast it's going or how much fuel, etc. I am assuming that your friend's Blazer is 4WD, the speed sensor is in the tailshaft housing of the transfercase, which may or may not bolt up to the Turbo 350. I'm pretty sure that the bolt pattern and spline count for the 700R4 is the same, but the 27 spline output shaft might be a too short on the the T350.

He will probably be time and money ahead to keep the 700R4, it's reallty not a bad tranny, although early versions had their share of problems, a good rebuild can correct the weaknesses and you get a pretty good auto tranny with a good low first gear and overdrive, which the turbo 350 doesn't have. The cost of an adapter alone would be about half to cost of a good rebuilt 700r4
