I also have a 78. any how... I went through my share of trans. The new ones should fit i dont know about the electronics in them. Im now looking for a stick to swap in. Its alot of work but im tired of being stuck caus the trans is full of water. or i burned another up. Im on my 3rd I keep swaping motors too. Now its time for the 440 soon as i get home to WA
Let me know what you find.
