Hey, i was just wondering what the best thing would be to add power to a TBI engine? I read on a few other sites fourms their kinda hard to add power to.

Depends on how much money you want to throw at it.

Headers are step 1. Cam is step 2. Heads and intake dont do so well on these motors unless you upgrade the TBI and computer to another system than can flow more air/fuel.

Little bolt ons help but arent big steps up in power.

My 92 K1500 5.0L TBI is running a K&N 15x4 air filter, TBI spacer, MSD6A ignition with spiral core wires and platinum 4 plugs. A B&M stage 2 shift kit is in the trans. This 5.0L runs with the stock 5.7L and runs past them at the gas pump. Headers and a chip are next.

Unlike its more advanced multi-port(or point) injected (MPI-one injector per cylinder) cousins, the TBI engine (and computer) is somewhat limited in power gains due to the speed density design and MAP sensor. They don't tolerate big cam swaps or major changes in air and fuel flow. Since the TBI  uses no mass airflow sensor it cannot change as many perameters as a multi-port to make as much power. You can however get decent improvements with a free flowing air filter (K&N), headers, cat back exhaust, a performance chip (like Jet Chip and a lower temp thermostat), a throttle body spacer, better ignition (coil, plugs and wires), and even a high performance fuel pressure regulator. Remember the power gains from each product are usually less than claimed and are not neccessarily cumulative. You can expect, maybe and additional 30-40 Hp from all the above mods and with most aftermarket chips, you'll need to run 93 octane to reap the benefits of advance timing curves.

Alright thanks I already got the catback, Iv been looking at the K&N for a while now and that will be next, then probably some headers.

If you want to throw the money at it, Edelbrock makes a Multi-port inection kit for the TBI.  The only thing is that, other than the cost, if you want to swap cams or heads, you have to use theirs.  The system is only calibrated for use with the stock setup or their setup.  However it does give you a more efficient injection system, and it's still alot easier to work on than the central SFI systems in the 96 and up GM's.
