Anybody have an opinion on this baby? I want to build myself the ultimate go anywhere vehicle and I was thinking maybe the 4Runner or the Toyota Tocoma double cab. Money is no object. The skys the limit. Dream with me. What would be the ultimate go anywhere vehicle(rocks, mud, sand, swamps, asphalts, #### etc). Thanks much.

Well...as long as you have a limited slip differiencial, you'll be fine.

As for a 4Runner, they are very dependable. With a little work I'm sure you'd be quite pleased.  You don't need much muscle even tho you could get a V6 or V8 supercharger for the 4Runner.  Hope this helps a little, play on playa!

I am trying to do the same thing only I am on a bit more of a budget. my weapon of choice is an 85 4runner SR5. Ive swapped in a 7MGE inline 6 from a supra. twice th hp of a 22RE with only 2 more cylinders! I custom made my own 4" lift kit using drop hangers and long shackles in the front with stock rear springs locating my axle roughly 3" forward. 63"chevy leaves on rear with long rear shackles. double transfer cases for lots of gearing options. 5.29's in the front and rear with Ausie lockers. 35" Kumho mt's. custom made dual cv joint 1/4"wall tube rear driveshaft. crossover steering and custom made bumpers F/R and rocksliders. thats my toy. now if money was no object id change a few things. first off, I hope you like doing custom work! I would use a toyota 1UZFE v-8 out of a lexus. thats a sweet-ass motor! i would then opt for selectable lockers definately, not the automatics. then if you are wanting to run really big tires you'll need stronger axles. as much as i hate to say this possible some DANA 60's. if youre just gonna run 35's or 38's, get you some Longfield axles & birfields for the front and youre set!
