Ok so i have this 2wd 2.3 isuzu pickup and I just can't get this thinkg to run correct for anything. I have heard that the Haynes manuel is wrong and when in TDC that the rotor button should point to #4 wire. So I have it like that. It run but not well. I have replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I have checked and am getting fuel. Anyone have any ideas? Please help.
Thanks

i have a 1992 2wd 5spd pickup an mine sounds like its doing the same thing yours is, well mine runs like a badass now, my #1 wire is on the rightside of the vac advance if you are standing on the pass side. the factory says the timming is 6deg btdc, mine was an dog though so now mine is set at 10deg btdc an it runs a *** of a lot better, i run premium everything, gas, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, an once a month us some carb cleaner. also if you have recently changed the timing belt, the alignment markes will not line up perfectly, if you get them were they need to go the belt groves are one notch off, so you have to set the crank first an put the belt on the tennsioner then release the tennsion to put the belt on the cam gear, you will need someone to help you an you may have to turn the crank or cam eaither direction till you get it close to 6deg btdc, them you can turn the distributor to get it exact. you could try it at 8-9deg btdc and see how that goes. also does your truck cut out when you go around a fast curve going right? well mine did an it was the pickup line in the gas tank. well let me know how it goes.
