what do the tires rub on exactly? is it the body or the control arms. I want to bet its the body. you can change out your wheels instead of wheel spacers. You can do a 1 inch body lift without doing any negative affects on your jeep. Small suspensions systems are not to expensive. I would do a small lift. Maybe some 2 inch spring spacers along with better shocks. It just all depends on how far you want to go.

I'm waiting on a post question for something similar...but check out the Adjustable Coil Over Spacers from JKS   www.jksmfg.com....they appear to be what I want also...i'm waiting for some responses from the more knowledgeable folks here (like the editor)...

Depends on what its rubbing on. My guess is you have the stock wheels and a wider tire so its probably hitting either the body, control arm, or sway bar.

I don't see a lift fixing any of these problems. The body, control arm, or sway bar are still in the same place and the tire is still in the same place.

Sooo... the way I figure it the only real answer is a wheel with a wider off-set.

wouldn't a lift get the tires out of the body at least? when you lift, isn't it one of the biggest reason's is to allow for larger tires? As for hittin the control arm, sway bar; a wheel with offset out would cure that problem. But then you are running the risk of frying your front wheel bearings if you go to large(bigger then 35 maybe). Just my food for thought

I've got an identical rubbing problem with my 78' wagoneer. I just picked up some 33/12.5/15's for $40 each and got so hasty with my GREAT deal that i neglected to account for my new found tire width. Now my rear tires bite the leaves any time the most modest incline presents itself.  Anyway, a tight budget with few ties to frugal(ness)prevents purchasing new wheels or tires for that matter. Finally, to the point would rear wheel spacers for my six lug 44 create any severe problems? If so what would they be. If no where can i find 6 lug spacers for my toy? any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated

Whats funny about your wagon is my first jeep was a 77 jeep cherokee. basically the same thing you have but 2 doors. Go try and find some wagon wheels for a jeep cherokee chief(1976 and newer). Basically, these wheels are a bit wider by about 2 inches, and the offset is further outboard. I think you can run about a 2 inch spacer with no problems. Go to ebay for this or any after market wheel dealer. Just keep in mind, you might run into rubbing the outer rear fender. If i'm correct, the rear outer skin fenders have small openings compared to a Cherokee chief fenders. I guess you can find some fenders in a junk yard and do some cuttin and welding. Is yours a manual or auto? Be carefull as you will start bending drivelines and tearing up u-joints because of the added stress from the tires. I was going through drivelines every weekend plus u-joints. My local driveline fabricator loved me. I was running 3.54 in the diffs and a rear locker. be carefull not to push the tranny also. It is a th-400(if its an auto) and can take alot of abuse but you can still burn it out quick. I did mine. Make sure your chain in your t-case is within specs. If you ever feal a loud quick POP like something is slippin, Its your t-cse(this is for the Borg-warner quadratrac unit). But these T-cases are actually stronger the what people say! Just make sure the chain is good. I also always carried a spare set of points at all times for the distributer(It saved my butt on several occasions).

Any questions just PM me. Other then that, you basically have a great tank as a play toy.
