Hey all
I've got a 1976 K25 GMC thats currently undergoing a frame off restoration.
Before the teardown I was running a 4 bolt mains 350 .040 over, Sm465 4 speed tranny with a manuel clutch and an Np-205.
My axels are the typical D44/14FF combo with some nice 4.10's in them. I've gone all greasable with the bushings, and have done a 4" shackle flip in the rear, with 1" ORD "zero rate" blocks to correctly locate the axel forward since the flip. Up front I got 4 inch tuff country ez rides with ORD's HD shackels, again with all the greasable goodies. all four courners have the SS brake lines, and SX 8000 shocks. other doodads included the ORD sway bar disconnects poly mounts and an ORD steering brace.
I scored a set of H2 wheels and tire on ebay for $600 bucks brand new so i'm now running 35" BFG AT's with 17's.
Since the restoration began last year I've fully fabricated full floors using 2x2x1/8" box tube everywhere. I also boxed the new rocker panels with 3/16 X 4" flatbar to beef up the cab. I also made some custom grab bars out of round tube that fit nicly. The cabs done and POR-15ed' and looks amazing.
The frame was fully sandblasted and painted using the POR 15 paint again, and I fabbed up new cab mounts as mine were gone. New t case bushing are installed allong with an ORD motor brace and custom ORD motor mounts. SSBC supplied the pre-bent stainless brake lines.
The reson the restoration started (besides needing floors bad) was because the motor dropped a valve, It was an awsome motor and pulled great, i had all edlebrok parts on it and it really made power off road. The Sm 465 tranny was great for wheelin' and so was the 205 case, however the slop in the drive line sucked, the weak 10 spline units wear fast when you crawl...
My new motor is a 454 Mark IV that was recently rebuilt. Mostly to stock specs, but I used an edlebrok Preformer RPM cam and a few other nice parts to make what i believe will be a nice 10.25:1 comp motor.
So the point I'm at now is looking for a tranny and t case. After allot of research and many calls to Steve at ORD. (thanks!) I have found that the tranny i need is an 81 + SM 465 that origionally mated to a 208 t-case. These trannys use 32 splines and are MUCH more durable then the ten splines could be, wear is practically impossable with them. The T case i need is an NP-205 that was origionally bolted to a th400 from 85+, because they use 32 spline female inputs and have the same "round" bolt pattern as the sm 465/np 208
So thats me, my names Joe, I'll try to be around as much as I can to help anyone with questions. i've just started out my automotive adventure, (im 19) and i've worked at a welding and fab shop for almost 2 years now, But I've gone threw plenty of chevys and had my hands deep inside my share of small blocks.
Nice to finally join a forum, Peace!

Hello again, I got my new tranny and transfer case sandblasted and painted, and had to make a call to advance adapters to make them mate right. The 32 spline output shaft was sticking out too far from the adapter and bottoming out in the 205 input. So $100 bucks later I'm back on track after much panic.
I am currently rebuilding the front axle, but more importantly I'm swapping in the hydraulic clutch setup. I have need some help as to where in the firewall to drill the hold for the master cylinder for the clutch. I have an idea but pictures and some measurments would help allot!

Nice GMC. Looks and sounds like it is coming along nicely. Good choice on your upgrade parts.
