Hi, I'm really pissed off about an ongoing problem with my DD. I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, I had a 4 inch lift (trailmaster)installed 4 years ago. The truck ran fine without any major issues until four months ago. Out of nowhere my ABS light started to go off, randomly, without any pattern. With that the brakes act very soft and weak when the light is lit. I had someone work on it and that cost me $650 for a new hub, it soon turned out that didn't fix the problem. I then found out that I still had coverage with GM. I took the truck to a dealer, which worked on it for 3 days. In the end they blamed my lift kit, which I know is BS. Last week I found acouple of sites that are attached with consumer's affairs. It seems that GM has been having ABS issues since 1999, and refuse to fix the brake problem. Has anyone experianced this problem or has a fix, that will work. I'm so tired of this truck and the total lack of support from GM.

hi,i had a 99 sierra and the abs light came on and there was a buzzing or humming noise comming from under the drivers side of truck. had same issues you are having with your truck. the dealer replaced the abs module under warranty. it sounds like that is the problem not your front hub asm or your lift. hope that helps in any way.

I have heard of it a couple times, never really heard it resolved.
Although, I have seen where the larger tires screw up the signal to the computer which pisses off the ABS system. But the fact that you were fine for 3+ years makes it seem like its another part failure. What all did they replace? It could be the sensor, tone ring, abs module, is it 2wheel abs or 4? Did the check/replace the rear sensor?
It could be a multitude of things causing the problem. I'd try another Chevy dealer and see if their tech can fix it. If not try another, do everything they say. If they think it's the lift, as bad as it sounds, remove it, prove to them it's not the lift/tires fault. If all else fails, pursue Lemon Lawing it.
Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Well sofar my mechanic has replaced the right front hub, he really thought that was it. Unfortunatly it wasn't ( this was three months ago) About a week after leaving it with the dealership my coverage ran out. The last time I took it to my mechanic, he put it up on the lift and inspected it from front to back. He then disconnected the grounds for the ABS module, cleaned them, and replaced them. The problem disappeared for 2 1/2 weeks. It then returned but alot less servere. Since then I have cleaned them (with contact cleaner) and covered them with electrical purpose varnish,(to protect them). Again this might be only a stopgap fix, and it go south tommorrow. There is no way I'm going to pay Chevy to fix the problem they created, likewise I'm not playing to remove my lift. I think that whole excuse was an attempt to blow me off until my warrenty ran out. I'm very turned off about Chevy and new vehicles. I just don't trust them anymore. Currently I'm restoring a 1985 Blazer to become my back up/ daily driver.
