Hey you Guys 'n' Girls. Need a little help here, see I just bought a 90' - 91' K2500 Diesel and shortly after we changed the diesel-pump.
I talked with a dealer nearby and he tolled me that at 90' - 91' models there was no elec.pump at that year, is that right, he also tolled me that at the 6.2, the pump was/is located at the motor ?
The pump was/is located at the frame, left side.
Woulded it' then be possible that the motor maybe was changed or would he be wrong ?
How do I check wether it's a 6.2ltr or 6.5ltr ? The VIN-code is: 2GCFK29C2L1258042
Please let me know if you know.
Best wishes from Denmark Countryspeed = Henning :-) :-)

HI, YOUR VIN IS THIS; 2-CANADIAN,GC-CHEVY,F-7/8KLBS,K-4WHEEL DR,2-3/4TON, 9-EXT CAB,G-6.2 DIESEL,2,L-1990,1-OSHAWA ONTARIO CANADA,258042 IS THE SEQUENCE # YOUR TRUCK CAME OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE.
THE FUEL INJECTION PUMP IS LOCATED ON TOP OF THE ENGINE BETWEEN THE HEADS UNDER THE AIR INTAKE PLENUM. IT SHOULD BE A STANADYNE PUMP, VERY COMMON.
1992 WAS THE FIRST YR OF THE 6.5T IT WAS TURBOCHARGED, BUT YOU CAN STILL GET THE 6.2 UP TO 1993 MODEL. ALL 6.2 WERE NON TURBO BUT YOU CAN GET ONE FROM BANKS.
THE 6.5 CAME TURBOCHARGED OR NOT
I HAD A 1982 GMC K1500 W/6.2 DIESEL, IT WAS AWESOME.......I MISS IT.

could have a mechanical pump on the left lower front of the motor, exactly the same as a small block chevy. you can put an electric pump on it and bypass the mechanical if you choose.
I thought that after 88 the 1500 and 2500's had the pump on the inside of the frame below the drivers door. the 93 dually i have has it there along with the 98 suburban. it looks like a filter but it is the fuel lift pump.
the 6.5 turbos will work on it if you have short injectors. (van) the problem is the angle of the injectors put the lines to close to the manifold, I've got a 6.2 with a 95 6.5 turbo on it. I'll post it,
I grew up on these things, my old man specialized in them and automatics at a dealer for many years.
in the pic you can almost see the fuel pump mounting. under the alternator bracket. the motor is a 82 block with large valve heads.

I melted the #7 and 8 pistons out of this one on the dragstrip, the pump was maxed out and the governor set up at 7,000rpm. it ran at 28psi boost.
