Ok, so I've been researching and reading, searching the web and writing emails.
I have been looking at the ProComp Xtreme Mud Terrains, 285/70-17. I haven't found much info on the web regarding this tire in specific but have read numerous threads on all sorts of web sites regarding ProComp and 4 Wheelparts stores. They have been giving ProComp (in general) bad reviews and aswell I've read on several web sites that they aren't a good brand to buy. Though at the same time, 4 Wheel and Offroad magazine did a mud tire test, this being one of them, and they gave them a pretty good review. ProComp products have also been pushed on Horsepower TV aswell, on their Xtreme 4x4 program. The reason I like these tires, is because they are supposed to have above avg off road performance, decent tire wear and avg highway maners.

So, can you guys help me out in my decision as to why they are such a bad brand?

Thanks

I've always been more into the BFG's, It seems to me that most people who ditch any particular tire brand or type, haven't even ever had a set.. I ran a used pair of the pro comp m/t's for a couple months or so, they handled great and didn't make much noise, they seem to be lasting a few miles for hwy use, so I've heard.
for my case the traction was lacking, most of my usage is off road, remember they were used having about 40 percent remaining tread. I went with the Interco trxus m/t's, this time.
I have a set of toyo m/t's on my 98 suburban that seem to be melting away, as my uncle on his 04 chev xcab 2500, his are 18's and was the first to complain about the wear. peopl praise these things?
I'm thinking it may have to do with the stiff sidewalls, the last set of 35x12.50-16.5 BFG m/t's I bought had 55000 miles on then before they got replaced, (with th exception to the one that was almost new because of a tree branch that found it's way through the sidewall,)as we all know they have weak sidewalls.????

I dont understand why people would say pro comp is a bad tire cuz ive run 2 sets of all terrains on two different trucks with good results, i like bfg better but i bought the procomps cuz they had a 50,000 mile warranty and were cheapher then bfgs,  btw u say bfg mud terrains have weak sidewall?  do they?  Im considereing buying a set of the same size you mentioned 35x12.50x16.5.  Im also thinking about the Super Swamper SSR or Paranelli JOnes Dirt Grip TIres do you have any info?

depends on what you wheel on or in, I've lost 4 sidewalls my self, the 16.5's are getting rare, sounds like this will be the last year for the KM's?, they're getting replaced by the KM2? I still run the BFG KM's on my fullsize, the jeep is another story. I've worn out ssr's and boggers, they aren't very friendly for a daily driver, take a look at the Interco Trxus lineup. I know they wont last like the comps or BFG's, the performance is awesome both on and off road.

Approximetly how many mile do you think you can get out of the ssrs on a daily driver truck that go off road on the weekends.  JUst to clarify the ssr's are less aggressive the the regulars tsl tires right?  I dont like the trxus line up cuz they seem to all terrain tire ish, im looking for a mud terratin like tread for this truck.

I purchased a set of the Pro Comp Extreme MT's in October when they were on sale (4 for the price of 3). I have nothing but good things to say about them. Great road manners... exceptional traction and not much noise. If I was to rate them on a scale of one to ten, I would put them around an eight. I only rate them at an eight because I have yet to do any type of wheeling with them. I based my traction rating on wet weather road conditions... wet turf traction and snow traction... I do live in Canada you know.. LMAO!

i'm currently runnin a set of 35/12.50/15 pro comp M/T's. i got them cuz the guy that owns the local off road shop has them on all 3 of his rigs and swears by them. i got mine in march 07 when pro comp offers buy 3 get 1 free (also in oct) and cuz i paid cash i got a discount on top of that. now the performance of these tires, i dont like them in light dustings of snow ( dont know about deep snow yet, havent had any ) but all other road conditions they are great and low noise too for such a tire. off road they are awesome! i have no complaints what so ever except this; they REALLY bite into dry terrain. i learned this the hard way. i can fry them on the street but on dry ground i broke a u-joint and shattered 2 yokes. take it for what its worth.
