HELP!!! I have a mid 80s K30 dually with a 14 bolt and want to convert to rear disc.I have checked TSM mfg but they only list single wheel applications.I heard of a company called TMF that supposedly has this set-up but have had no luck finding it. They also make bumpers and leaf springs. Can anyone help me either locate this company or another? If anyone has any info on this swap I would greatly appreciate it.Thanks!!

Don't take my word on this, but from what i know of single and dual wheel applications should be the same. It's just that with a dually, you have the inner wheel with a ton of back spacing and the outer wheel sticks out further. So there should only be one kit which would explain why you only can find one. When you do the conversion, you'll still need the longer studs from the dually drums to put into the rotor on the kit 'cause duallys need longer studs than singles. Here's a site for how to do a homemade conversion. It's my next project on my truck, so I've been looking into it too. Have fun.

I too have been looking into the disc brake conversion as I also have a 1986 1 ton dually. I have found a kit at www.offroadunlimited.com There you can get a kit for around 1300.00 or so. Hope this helps.

Dont know about the duallies and what axle, but the people I've spoken with dont really recommend a rear disk setup for my GM 10 bolt. the C clips allow the axle to move in and out just enough that the disk will rub the pad on one side or the other, another issue is engine off braking, it takes alot more pressure to make a disk brake work, and if the engine isnt running there isnt enough vacume or hyd pressure to let you stop the truck with the engine off. I'm thinking this could be a problem if your pulling a heavy trailer, or hauling something heavy. Just a thought I've been kicking the idea around for some time, I think I'll just upgrade my master cyl, slotted rotors in front and see about larger drums in back. I realize my issues are somewhat different with a K5 Blazer than yours with a big duallie, but thought I'ld throw in my $.02

As you stated the 10 bolt has c clips in the axle to hold the axle shaft on and can move around a little, but on a 1 ton axle it is a full floater so the axle shafts are bolted in and can not move around but they do have factory disk brakes on semi floating axles from the factory . so who knows? with disk brakes on a semi floating axle if for some reason you did break a axle you could still drive home because the brake caliper would hold the axle in , unlike drum brakes which would slide off and let the axle come out with the drum and tire all together!

On the 14bolt ff rear end, the disc adapters ARE Diffent between the single and dual rear wheels!!!! RuffStuffSpecialties.com has what you need!!!! I just put a set on the back of my dually and I LOVE it!!!! With an adjustable proportioning valve and some dry pavement, it makes my dually stop like a sports car!!!!

I couldn't imagine more stopping power than my 85 chev dually already has with the huuuge drums. what about stopping 26000# with the disc conversion?, thats what my toy hauler and truck weigh loaded.

The kit actually says for off road use, not towing. Is there more that I didn't see?

I will be setting up a disc brake conversion this month on my single rear wheel 1 ton. I bought the caliper brackets from ORD, but just last week I found DIY4X.com has them for less than half the price and has the offset built in so spacers are not needed between the brackets and axle flange. Check with DIY4X.
