I am a Ford man at heart but I recently was given a 1994 toyota 4x4 ext cab 5-spd with a blown motor, I have seen conversion kits to put in a Ford V8 (5.0 or 5.8) and still retain the Toy's axle, trans, and transfer case. I was wondering does anyone know how easy this would be and prices of the items needed to do this swap. Also any web sites of this type of conversion would be greatly appreciated.

im sure the toyota live front axle could handle a v8 with some longfields but i wouldnt count on the ifs taking too much punishment.

i put a 302 in my 86 yota, i converted it to a solid axle from marlin crawler so i dont know how well the ifs will hold up.  a set of hd torsion bars should be used if u keep the ifs. u can either keep the stock 5 speed and get a different bellousing from northwest off roads to match the ford motor.  I replaced the 5 speed with a c4 transmission with an adapter from northwest offroads to match my t-case, i did this so i wouldnt have to worry about reliability of the 5 speed.  i havent completed the project yet so i cant tell u much else.  both adapters are pretty spendy running u around 6 to 7 hundred bucks.  a modified oil pan will be needed as well if u keep the ifs, that item is pretty spendy as well.
