Hy Fella's,

I could sure use some help.  Two days ago my 87 Burban and I ended up in a ditch.  The truck was running fine prior to the accident (obviously) and when everything settled down, my heater fan was still blowing but no engine running.  One of the EMT's turned off the ignintition and pulled the keys.  The truck had to be towed after getting pulled from the dithch due to it not being able to start.  The mechanic for the towing company did some checking and noted that there was no fuel pressure.  Probably the fuel pumb eh?  What I want to know from anyone who does know is, Is there a reset for the electroninc fuel pump fo the 1987 Suburban with a TBI 350?  I would greatly appreciate an answer ASAP.
Many thanks againg fella's.

There is no reset for the fuel pump.  What type of accedent?  Did you just spin out on snow?  I am guessing you are from Canada with the "eh" at the end of one sentance.  If it was in deep snow, the snow could have packed in very tight around the fuel tank and damaged the wires to the fuel pump.  But I would find that very odd since the fuel pick up is in the top middle of the fuel tank.  I would first check the wires to the fuel pump because this is likely from that accident and very doubtfull that the fuel pump itself failed at that time.  Post again if you can't find it.

what GM1 said, or is there a possibility that there's an inline fuse or a fuse on the block that might of popped?

I think that the heavier guage pink wire that runs in a wire harness to the fuel pump is  the 12 v suply to the pump.  If you can enrgize this wire your pump should spin and make fuel pressure if there is fuel in the tank and no bad connections.

On most fuel injected vehicles there is what’s called an inertia switch that cuts power to the fuel pump in an accident my 94 explorer had one I don’t know what year they started installing these in cars and trucks but I would look it up on the net to see if your truck came equipped with one because that’s what it sounds like. Most fords I know placed them under the dash near the glove box I know this because I had some one kick it once. If it trips you just press the button on the top back down to re set. I know this is not a ford but I hope this helps.

Ok so I looked and found out there is no inertia switch that year only on fords what’s responsible for powering the fuel pump when it starts up is the oil pressure sending unit.

THe wiring is pretty simple. IT is wired in parallel through oil pressure switch and fuel pump relay. THe relay bypass oil pressure switch for several seconds during start up and then drops out and oil pressure switch keeps it powered.  The ECM monitors pump and controls relay. Pump is grounded to frame for circuit return.
