Has anyone ever gotten a ticket for running beadlocks on the UA?  It seems like most run them and not all are street legal....

Did Tim Hardy finally get rid of his Samurai or does he still have it since he didn't drive it this year?

If any officers don't know that external ring bead locks are illegal, don't let them know, lol.  I have been considering Staun bead locks, but have also been courious what I could get away with.  It would be nice to hear if there have been any police issues with bead locks on the UA rigs since they travel through several states on the trip.

that's not entirely true... the not being legal thing... last i heard there are two available beadlocks that are DOT approved... i'd have to do some searching but i might be able to find them for you... i know one is from an original hummer/humvee... and they are fully street legal... and some of what you might be seeing is imitation... that's what throws cops off... most don't know how to tell the difference... and those that can don't really care... because they know better... at least that's the way it is around here...

I know about the old humvee wheels but I haven't looked into the avaialability of them yet.  I know there is an aluminum one that Petersons4wheel did an artical on a couple years back and I think they even used them on the premudder Blazer (awesome rig), but those are like $600.00 each wheel.  These two actually bolt the two halves together, not an external lock ring like most other bead lock.  The advantage of the halves bolting together is that it locks both beads, not just the outside.  I think you would be right about cops not knowing the difference or even care about bead locks (that could be any state).

Besides the steel humvee wheels, there are two DOT approved bead lock Aluminum wheels that I know of.  One is from Center Line Wheels, and the other one is from Hutchinson (rockmonsterwheels.com).
