Hey Im a newbie from Australia. I surely hope to find some useful information and hope to make some friends along the way and have a lot of fun. I am looking for a 4x4 vehicle for recreational. and want to try rock crawling step by step.

I would love to help, but the vehicles that I suggest you may not have in Australia... hmm... maybe tell us some of the options that you do have?  

go with a jeep. you'll have almost an unlimited supply of parts, gadgets and add-ons. a stock jeep on it's own (no mods or limited mods) is quite capable offroad. plus, i understand you folks have the diesel equipted wranglers over there....so there you go. i might be a bit biased, because i own a jeep.......
