Browse around on this site, you will find lots of information about what sami's can and can't *** Fred seems to have tested them all!

the stock axles are really strong. but if in doubt you can swap toyota pick-up axle under it. But the axles have
really crappy covers. make sure you can check the fluid
levels in the diffs before doing anything major with them
as the plugs often get rusted in to the axle.

I own a 87 samurai that hauls me around good and it does
haul me around good enough its mostly stock and still
a awesome rig to haul yourself and a buddy around in

I myself just bought an 88 Sammy and from the reasearch I have done, all you have to do to these things is SPOA (about $20) and install 31's and wheel. if you really want capabilities do th 6:1 transfer gears, Lock the rear, 2" suspension lift install 33's and wheel everyday. A friend of mine whom pushed me into getting the sammy, says he had no problems till he locked the front with 33's that is when his heavy skinny pedle foot broke Berf's...

Lovin the Sammy, Good muddin to ya!

20$ if you can build the parts to do spoa. im welded rear and no problem yet with 33s. only brock front when when i was spooled and offset on rim was wrong and the tire would grab the springs

Calmini offers stronger aftermarket axels for a reasionable price.
I installed the 2" shackel reverse kit, it was 278$ to the door. All i needed was shocks. I can always do a spoa or lift springs also.

Also try the website www.izook.com for everything Samurai.  It also has links to sites that sell Samurai parts.  In paticular Rocky Road is great.  They are helpful and will answer questions.
