ok i have a 1986 ford ranger 4x4 and i allready have a 3 inch bodylift and im in the proces of purchasing a 6 inch lift and i was woundering what to stay away from mechanicly with the truck and what i should do to help its off road performance

That sounds like a good enough plan.
I would watch out for more tire related problems. What size tires are you planning? Are you planning gears? Lockers? Do you have the 8.8 or 7.5 axle?
The lift it self shouldn't be a problem (though I don't like the body lift with the 6" but that is just me) but the size of tires you use along with it could cause you some grief.

ok i do have the 7.5 but im looking for a set of toyota axles front and back so i am planing on a straight axle in the future and i am going to regear it. i am lokking to run 36 to 38 inch tires if possible and i am willing to cut some metal to do it. and i really am not liking the bodylift eather. oh and a off the wall question what would you all say if i stuffed chevy 3/4 ton running gear under it cuz i have a set of that layin in the shop lookin for a use.

As long as the diff is on the correct side, driver drop, then that would be perfect for wanting to run 38's, the Chevy gear that is

ok yes the dif is on the correct side and the only hting that is bad is with tires on they ar 13.5 inches wider but im thinking of just running it off road and making it a trailer rig and building my cherokee into a street and light trail rig thank you for the input is there anything else that u would segest for me
