When I turn on the 4x4 on my tahoe I hear a grinding noise and like it is locked the tahoe goes forward but the noise does not sound good. What could it be? Please help

change the oil in your transfer case and see if that works. i don't know what for transfer case you got, if it's a chain drive, you might have to put in a new chain.
