so i have an 88 chevy 1500 4x4 5L 5spd, it ran fine until last week and it just stalled on the street and wouldn't start again, later that day, after a tow, it started up perfectly fine. Now today it did the same thing and it won't start at all, and in between I had had it idoling in my yard for an hour and it was running fine. Both times i had been driving for about 10 minutes. Please give me some ideas as what to look for.

i once had a problem simalar to that with my moms 91 caravan. you might try to check if your motor has camshaft and crank position sensors and check them.

so i've been working hard and the fuel pump is fine but for some reason fuel is not getting to the injectors. i think it must have something to do with some sort of module located on the firewall that the lines run through. if anyone can give me any info on that (name, what it does, how to fix it) i would very much appreciate it, thanks.

Check for spark right after it stalls. If there is no spark then remove the dist cap and look under the pick-up coil to see if there is a lot of corrosion around it's wiring to the ign module. If it is then remove the distibutor and replace the pickup coil and ign module (you need to take the gear off the bottom of the dist so that the trigger magnets do not get damaged). The pick up coil tells the ign module to fire the ignition coil, fuel injectors, and energize the fuel pump. Some times its easier to replace the whole distibutor, then you get: a new dist cap, rotor, pickup coil, ign module, and distibutor magnetic pole piece. If you do rebiuld the distibutor, the magnetic pole piece or distributor shaft is available at GM everything else can be found at a parts store.

sounds like the fuel filter to me. I had the same problem with my 87. i replaced the fuel pump and all the wiring to the fuel pump. (at the time i thought it was an electrical problem). finally i replaced the fuel filter, Problem solved.

have you tested the fuel pressure. some times a fuel pump will pump fuel but it wont pump enough PSI.
