I have a 63 wagon with a 327 chevy and a toploader 4-speed the rear is the original dana 44 and I'm not sure of the front. I am looking to do an axle swap front and rear that will give me strength and added stopping power. I am looking for any ideas/ help from someon who has done a similair swap. I have a 90 dodge W-150 and I am thinking of swapping the axles, transfer case and power steering what do you guys think will be my major problems?

Hi, I have done an axel swap on my '60 willys wagon. I got the new(er) Dana 44s out of a ~74 wagoneer. Also, I did a disc brake conversion on all four. This took quite a bit of online research but I finally got it all together with standard OEM parts. The Dana 44 out of the wagoneer is much stronger than the 44 that is stock in your wagon. The original wagon axles are 2-piece, whereas the next generation 44 has 1-piece axles. If you're interested in the specifics of this conversion, let me know nd I can provide more information. -Charlie

I'd love to get info from you. I'm planning a 54 Station Wagon and had thought that the axles off of a Scout II was the way to go. I planned the Scout due to the width already being correct, highway gears and disks for the front. I'm building a daily driver with occasional camping for primary use.
