Just buy a 4wd Ranger.

The frame mounts for the TTB and TIB are different, so to swap your truck from a 2wd I-Beam truck to a 4wd Traction Beam truck would mean cutting the mounts off of the frames of the donor and your truck and welding the 4wd brackets in the right place on yours.

Now, if you wanted to SAS it its a whole nother story...

you could just do a SAS... it doesn't make a big difference if it's 2WD or 4WD when you go that route. Besides, there are far more 2WD's around that haven't been flogged than 4WD's. I'm in the process of doing an SAS to mine. If your interested, I have pictures posted on photobucket. Just the same user name as I have here to find me.

I did this on a 1985 ranger.  I had to remove the 2 wheel drive front cross member and replace it with the 4x4 one.  But other than that it pretty much bolted together

I would post the pictures here but, there are quite a few of them so far and they do take up a fair bit of space. Also, it's still a work in progress.
For my swap, I'm working on the KISS method. Almost all parts used will be production parts to keep it simple. Also, this way if I should happen to break something, finding a replacement will be simple. The only parts that will not be production parts will be the differential locating brackets and radius arms.
My differential of choice for this swap is a Dana 30 HP from a 91 Cherokee (the non disconnect type). It's wheel mounting surface is close to that of a factory Ranger and the wheel bolt pattern is the same.
I know what some are going to say... that the Dana 30 is a weak differential. For what I'm going to be doing, it will be more than strong enough.
When starting my project, I sat down and came up with a list of what I was expecting of my truck when completed and then went through the different parts available.
Maybe once I'm complete, I'll post pictures and describe what was done and why. Until then, I'll just leave my pictures on Photobucket.
