Ladies and gentlemen, i got a 99 1500 sport 4x4 but with 190000 on her. thats 190000 hard miles on her. i beat the *** out of her with wrk and fun. I want to put a 3 inch body and maybe later a 3 lift. hopefully gettin some 35;s inder here. wat should i do with my axles switch gears or axles. I would use it for mud and trails mostly and heavy haul;n. Next is the god *** TRans (Crappy). Just got it rebuilt 3,000 miles on her. Now when im goin up in speed like 30-to 50-60ish the RPM flutter on my dash, u can feel it too. I had a few plpe say the trans. I dont know if any has come across this but any input would b great. PS wat can i do to this crappy trans to make sure it wont go out on me on the trail with bigger tires. THanks guys. MATTY

Most automatic transmission failures are due to excessive heat. Every A/T should have a temp. gauge to help you keep it from over heating, especially over drive A/T's. Should also have an extra trans oil cooler. The RPM flutter that you can feel may be converter lock up kicking in and out. When you go to bigger tires, regardless what you decide to do with axles, make sure to regear appropriately.

No they are not just for racing, i just did a TCI pro super trans pack and 4.56 gears to my 98 im running 3 inch body, 3 inch lift, i have 36 TSl swampers under it and it shifts and drives better then new a shift kit will make it shift harder and faster = less heat build up, if its shifting slow and soft its slipping and making heat

I also have 99 (crappy) A/T, Is there a simple electrical test for the converter lock up solenoid ?

I have a 10 1500 on 36x14.5 tsl radials with 5 inch supension and 3 inch body. That is the best way to go you can still play pretty hard (trust me I did mine has 149000 miles) and still makes a good work truck. I just got the gears swaped from 3.55 to 4.56 and I love it the engine flutter in my truck has went away, but also check your tps sensor that may the problem

i had the rpm flutter and i replace the tps and the idle valve, or idle sensor, and that took care of it. cost like 50 bucks for both parts and took 10 minutes
