I am thinkng about buying an 84 toyota truck that has a chevy 350 with 38.5 super swampers. I was wandering if the factory toyota axles would be able to pull the tires without any issues? or if not, what would be a good easy axle swap that wouldn't dig into my pocket too much?

Yup... that is asking for trouble... lol. 38.5's with a 350 on a Toyota 7.5" axle... 14/60 swap can be done relatively cheap these days and would be plenty strong. You could probably get by just fine with a 9" rear and 44 front with that set up, and those are pretty cheap these days.

thanks man, what do you mean by 14/60 swap? i was also looking at possibly buying another 84 toyota that also had 38's but had a 22r with 5.29 gears. Would this setup give me trouble also or would i be fine with it being a 4 banger?

I meant a GM 14bolt in the rear and Dana 60 in the front.
Yea, with the 4banger you will probably, 'probably' be ok. It was the large engine and big tires that concerned me before.

anytime you run that big a tire you are taking a chance with small axles I run a 22re on 37s and have dana 44 axles with no problems. on 529 gears the pinion gear is smaller so you have more chance of breaking it dana 44 and 60 will help in that area.
