What is a spool? What is a mini-spool? Will they help me in the mud?

ok... this is the way i understand it... a spool is basically a solid carrier, no spider gears... and a mini spool goes in a carrier in place of the spider gears and is solid... it's basically a locker that doesn't ever ratchet or open up... and yes... it would help you in the mud... but it's basically the same as welding your spider gears... without the inherent weakness involved in the welding...
