is there any way to hook up a np 205 to a 6 cyl 250 and the auto tranny that came with it out of a 77 nova ?  if not is it possible to hook the same 250 to a 4 speed with granny gear transmission that is bolted to a '76 350 ?  i know this is confusing to me...thanks guys

there's always a way... they made some np 205's in a divorced setup... which means that you basically have a 2wd tranny and a short driveshaft then the transfer case attached to it's own crossmember... it was used on some one ton trucks in the 70's and 80's

here's some info for you on the 205's

I am *pretty sure* that the bell housing pattern on ALL chevy engines was the same by the 70s. REAL old 6s are different, but I think that six will bolt up to your 4X4 tranny. Just need the right flywheel or flex plate for the motor tranny combo.
summitracing.com sells those parts (most likely) and you can ask there tec h department your questions also.

The bell housing bolt pattern is the same.  The 250 6cyl was actually used in the Chevy trucks through the 70's to the early 80's.  Don't waste your time with the transmission out of the 77 Nova, it is most likely something weak like the TH200C.  Find a flywheel for the 250 6 cyl and bolt that engine to the SM465 transmission.  Also make sure to check the crank shaft in the 250 has the bushing in the end of it or add one before you bolt on the flywheel.  An auto parts store can help you with getting the right one.  Are you putting this 250 6 cyl in place of a 350 in that 1976 pick-up?
