Although this doesn't follow the current trends of our sport(rock crawling, rock racing, truggies, buggies, etc.), I think something imitating the Camel Trophy would be entertaining. I'm only 24 now, but I remember seeing the Camel Trophy as a kid and being glued to the tv at the few glimpses we were given of this extereme event. Unfortunatley, as we all know, the Camel Trophy turned into a type of triathlon or physical endurance event eliminating the adventure of the 4x4. Maybe this is because Land Rover lost it's edge as an extreme terrain conquering vehicle. Does this tick anybody off and create a you tube style argument? I hope so, because that's half the point. Dig up the archives and map a 90s Camel Trophy and put our modern 4x4s through thier paces. Can a modern Jeep, Hummer, Nissan, Toyota, or Land Rover stand to the challenges of this once awe inspiring event? How would they do? Who would win? Now it's just to convince the manufacturers to throw over the keys and start writing checks. 4x4 of the Year on Steroids...sign me up!!
