Let me start by saying i'm new to this and may be in the wrong section. I found a 1978 Ford F-250 for a thousand bucks with a dana 60 front and rear and was wondering if anyone would have any information as to how I could use this front axle? The pumpkin is on the driver side versus the passenger side and dana 60 axles are scarse around here. The ford has cancer very bad but has a great 400 motor trans and transfer case. Does anyone know how I could utilize the front axle on my chevy? I may be young but have built three heavily modified trucks now but this would be the first time doing a big conversion like this. I know it would be smarter to find a GM dana 60 but have been looking around for about a year now and have came up with nothing. Both danas have about 2 hours on fresh axles, seals, and bearings and trans has just been rebuilt. I would realy like to use the extra truck as a donor for a nice project. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

First...are you sure it is a dana 60 and not a 44. There are very few f250s with dana 60 in them. I think the camper special and the snow plow option trucks from factory had a 60. It would ot be worth the money to try to swap that axle to fit or the other option is to change transfer case.Do you own the axle...if so look on ebay...sometimes people will swap you or try to sell it if it is a 60 in good shape you could get a easy 700 to 1000 for that king pin axle. That will give you the money you need to get the one you need...where are you from..I know of a couple chevy 60s laying around..
