I have a 2002 Ford Explorer, and i want to put some bigger tires on it. Im just looking to make it ready for some mild trails. This SUV is not very common for off-roading, i have never seen one without a middle aged mom driving it. But I got it free from my mom and i would like to break the norm and get it dirty. I used to have an 89 Jeep Pioneer, loved to run that all day in the dirt. I miss it and want to have some more fun without buying a new/old truck. If anyone could help me out with a little advice, im open to any suggestions. Thanks

Dare to be different.Nothing is ever impossible..ever.the grey matter buttween the aural devices is limitless, in that what you imagine and what you want,,is only limited by 1 thing..to take that first step.willya?

im not too sure what i want to do yet. but i think that my decision has been made for me. i have to stick with the ford my parents wont let me sell the thing. so im going to try and make the best of what i have. im thinking to start off im going to put a two inch leveling kit on it. because it has four coil springs so i figure thats the easiest way to add some hight. then throw on some 31 or 32 tires. with my stock wheels, they are 16 so that should work ok. then this summer im going to be working and learning more on how to weld correctly. so i am planning on fabricating a rack for the top and a light bar along with it. i have been thinking this through alot and i have been shopping around and came to the conclusion that it would be best to make my own little things and later when the money comes to me get a ligit lift on it instead of the temporary fix. thanks you guys for the insight.

some explorers came w/ a v8 so thats one avenue.another is look at four wheel parts wholesalers,or other sites and get ideas for the suv, maybe some fender flares available to allow a wider tire? not every limitation is detrimental, just learn to use the tool like a mastercraftsman and you'll go further than what you thought you could...b4 you get stuck, but thats what a winch is for!its gonna be cool when you come up with a neat doohicky that you invent and people see and ask ,chin up an say i did it!sisnce you have four coils, look round at lifts.maybe a coil over kit you can modify from a 1/2 ton newer model 150,or taller springs off a jeep? ask around there,s all you nned out there but for research.happy wheelin!
