My first post here, and my first 4X4 in 30 years. The truck is a 1994 crew cab Chevy Dually, K3500 with 6.5L TD and 4L80E tranny. I picked it up a couple months ago, and have been having fun going thru everything system by system getting it all up to proper operating condition. I'm not a dummy, and usually do everything on my Trucks myself, This is however the newest rig I own, and as mentioned the first 4X4 in quite a while, so things are a bit foreign to me up front. The specific problem I'm faced with is control arm bushings. Uppers and lowers, both sides, all need to be replaced. Anybody been here before? Can you help me out with any advice, or wisdom, Or point me to a good manual? I have a Haynes, but their description of bushing replacement strikes more fear, than it provides any confidence, with statements like just take 'em out and send 'em to the dealer for replacement. (Seems like the wussie's way out )I've done control arms on my '61 Apache 10, that also has torsion bar front suspension, but I'm really concerned if there really is something going on with this one, that I wouldn't be able to handle, before I tear my truck apart, and find myself in an unholy nightmare. TIA for any help.
