I have a '93 GMC 1/2 ton. I have just put a Rough Country lift kit on it.I am now having a problem getting the keys to index correctly on the torsion bars.I had to cut the old torsion bars out but I went to the local salvage yard and purchased used ones that were for the year of my truck. When I am trying to readjust the keys it is turning so hard the tool is crushing the top of the cross member. If anybody can help me with this I would really appreciate it. Thank you, Jon

Jon,

I have a 04 GMC Sierra 2500HD. I bought a Rough Country 6" lift last year. What a piece of crap!! I had to call the company over and over and finally got them to send me a redesigned kit because their original design didn't work. Do you have the kit that drops your torsion bars down? or do they stay in the stock location with links? All of the powder coating came off my parts right away and the parts rusted, so be prepared for that. You probably need a different set of torsion keys that are indexed differently. I believe you have the "green keys" try to get a set of "purple" or "blue" keys from a GM dealer for about $70.00!! this should solve your problem! email me if you have any questions, I'm pretty knowledgeable with GM IFS lifts!!

The problem with those lift kits is they're cheap! I ran into the same problem when I installed one of those cheap lifts a few years ago, I ended up manufacturing my own keys because at that time I couldn't find any available. That was the last time I installed a Rough Country lift for myself or anyone(Sorry for those that like those lifts). The best lift kits for the Chevy's  IFS that are easy to install and have better quality and performance is Tuff Country, Superlift, or RCD. From my experience, out of all the lifts that are available, I recommend the Tuff Country. Good luck figuring out your problem.
