Try asking a tech at a dealer. There has got to be a good work around for this. I have never had to deal with it myself.

oh i got it didnt need the chain used a prybar tocrack the hood and if yall have a k10 round the same year theres a slit in the hood right were the latch is were u can use a swivle socket to unbolt the whole assembly. probly for this reason. *jeep engineers would have never thought doing this...

WHEN YOU CHANGE YOUR HOOD RELEASE CABLE IT BE WISE TO TAKE APART YOU HOOD LATCH ASM AND CLEAN IT REALLY GOOD (WD40 OR EQUIVALLENT) AND THEN SHOOT SOME MOLY GREESE TO KEEP IT LUBED SO WHEN YOU POP THE HOOD IT WONT STAY IN THE CLOSED POSITION UNTIL YOU SMACK IT WITH YOUR HAND...MY 86 SUB DID THAT ALL THE TIME (PISSS ME OFF)UNTILL I TOOK THE LATCH ASM APART, NOW ITS NOT DOING THAT ANYMORE.
