this may seem like a weird question, seeing in the forums that most swap engines and transmissions. but i want to keep my 4 cyl. just want to get rid of the 5spd standard. want to swap in a chevy 350 or 700r4 to the 4cyl motor and the toyota transfer case. also want to add a second transfer case to get the extra low gears. is this combonation to far fetched. or will it work. i feel that the 4cyl may not have enough tork for the auto transmision but with the extra transfer case i will have more choices on gear speeds right or wrong. most of the driving on road is short and minumal in town, to no more than 10 to 15 miles on highway. running 33in tires and after all other modifacations will add lockers front and rear. my 4 wheeling is light to moderate nothing extreme. just path wheeling and to reach my favorite hunting spots. hope my idea is a good working thought. but i am no scientist. can anyone help with this project. if you can feel free to email me, runt16@fidmail.com

Forget the THM350 or 700R4, engine does not make enough power for it to work right even if you could get it to fit. On the second gear case, you problem is that you are running tires way over stock size which has made your effective gear ratio a lot taller. Yukon make some 4.88 gears for it that will wake it up with big tires and make all gears more usable and give you a much deeper startup and crawl ratio too. 4.88 would give you about stock performance (stock tires size and stock ratio) and if you want a bit more edge, install 5.29's. You will think you had a engine transplant.
