I don't know anything about AUTO hubs. But with my manual hubs when they started to slip and not lock correctly I had to replace them. You probably need new ones. They wear down fast.

Actually auto locker wear a long time. I have a set on my 89 burb that I bought new and 19 years and 180K miles later they still work fine. They might need cleaning or ald hard stale gear and grim and repacking with fresh grease. You DO NOT want to over grease them because that will prevent proper operation. I would pull and inspect them before I go buy anything new.

There's a motor on the automatic hubs? I have a 91 F159 4x4, does that have a motor on the auto hubs?
