just bought truck, has oil leak coming from between trans and motor. there is a small plate on lower part of trans housing. any ideas as to where the oil could be coming from.

If it is engine oil it is likely the rear main seal given age of truck. If it is ATF fluid, it points to torque converter seal.

Need some more info is it a light duty 250 with the 302EFI 6 banger 351w 460 or a 6.9. Rear main is good possibility but before tearing it apart make sure the intake gasket is not pooring oil out 302's are famous for that if its a 6.9 OH Well
