Fabricating 4 link suspension

Hi there, new to the forum but hoping someone can settle an argument. I'm doing the welding and fabrication parts for a friend building up his '99 Jeep. The argument is about the basic fabrication of rod and links. I say to use heavy wall pipe and weld on the nut from the heim joint to the end. He says that we need solid rod, bore out the end and tap it then screw in the heim joint with its adjustable nut. Can someone help me out? Are there benefits doing it either way? Has anyone got any links or fabricating pics in stages.
Sorry for the NOOB question, just want to get the job done right.
