i am taking a 1978 chevy suburban and putting in a 4 inch suspension lift by Rough country now the overall project i am putting a gear over box made by usa6x6 so the vehicle will be 3 axles 6 wheel drive i will also be putting an Atlas 4 transfer case and GM performance parts 502 HO off road motor part#809-12568778 this is onine at JEGS i plan on putting a TH400 tranny. I will also be putting in polyurathane bushings wich will also be a 2-3 inch body lift and i will be putting on 39.5x13.50-15 LT superswamper IROK bias tire and putting in eaton lockers and 5.71 gears in the all 3 axles. I would like input on the overall parts i plan on using and any info on good headers made for off roading style driving i plan on using a MSD off road series 6 ignition with all MSD off road coils and such is that a good choice for my HEI ignition? any input on the rancho RS9000XL pro series coil over/remote resevoir shock would be nice too

sounds like you are building a pretty serious truck. first you will not have enough lift to clear the 39's with triming the fenders. i have a 78 3/4 ton pick up and my truck has 8 inches of lift and the tires rub when i flex it out. second i would do a complete msd ignition system. i have the off-road 6 box, rev limiter, blaster coil and distributor.

thanks for the thought on the MSD i had all of that on a list for the distributor any particular MSD one? or just any MSD distributor? thanks for the thought on the lift kit too the back i plan on cutting off making more of a flatbed so the back will be ok but it looks like i might need to go with a higher lift for the front once again thanks for the input

i have the pro-billet distributor. i wouldn't get the msd hei for electrical reasons. u can remote mount the blaster 2 coil up high and away from engine heat. to clear the tires you will need a body lift or more suspension. me personally i would go with a bigger suspension lift.
