I have a 1998 K 1500 4x4 The truck overheated and bent a valve and push rod.I pulled the heads and had them fixed and the truck still had a miss. And the check engine light is on.The dealer told me it was the timing chain. I put a new timing chain and gears on it and now the truck seems to cut out for a spit sekit. and every one I talk to says its on right.
Anyone have this problem before or something like it .
Help please   the truck wont pass inspection with the checck engine light on.

Get a scanner to read trouble codes. If it overheated there could be any number of sensors that got damaged. A scan tool is expensive, but if you plan on keeping the vehicle for a while and wheelin', its a good investment.

Overheating a engine does not make a valve or a pushrod bend. A bad timing chain will as will over revving engine. I would start by doing a complete wet and dry compression check.

I agree, but if the engine is good mechanically, a scan tool is a good investment. There is obviously a trouble code being triggered and the tool could also lead you to a mechanical problem that is hard to visually inspect.

Being the engine had damage and was cooked too I would do CR checks before I went further for problem he has.
