My transfer has a 1/16"wide by 1/8" long leak where the two halfs come together. It looks like someone tried prying the case apart with a screw diver and then filled the hole with some sort of sealer. It only leaks about a dime size amount of fluid every 24 hours. How can this be repaired. I hate leaks!! Thanks Phil

It appears someone tried to seperate the two without fully looking at what is involved with overhauling transfer cases. I agree witht he other guy with the JB weld, it will seal the whole and since your not leaking much then it would be your cheapest and quick fix to go with. Heck back in my day hubba bubba would do the same so if you got that, put that over it and just keep checking it every now and then and dont forget about it. Because as everyone knows, one small crack ends up to be a big one after time and JB weld or Hubba Bubba wont hold the crack that long eventually you have to repair the damage before it costs even more.

Thanks for the help. Eventually I would like to have the transfer case rebuilt. Should I fix this one or get one that is already rebuilt. I know with the small crack or hole I wont get a credit for my core. Thanks
